How to get from Rio de Janeiro to Conceição de Jacareí

To get to Conceição de Jacareí you must travel 150 km from the capital of the State of Rio de Janeiro which takes about 2 hours by car or 2.5 hours if taking a bus.

By Car

From the city or airports (RioGaleão Airport GIG & Santos Dumont Airport), take the Rio-Santos BR 101 highway as soon as you can and head south. Go to Mangaratiba and continue straight. The highway actually cuts through the city of Conceição de Jacareí. The beach is on your left and you must cross the road to find the tourist pier.

By Bus

The bus from Rio to Conceição de Jacareí is operated by Costa Verde Transportes, and there are 8 departures a day that leaves from the Rio Novo Bus Terminal.  Once you get to Conceição de Jacareí you will discover there is no bus terminal in the town, so you need to request a stop on the side of the highway. From where the bus stops you need to cross the highway and then it is an easy 300 meters walk to the tourist pier.

By Transfer

How to get from São Paulo to Conceição de Jacareí

By Car

Conceição de Jacareí is 400 km from the city of Sao Paulo, and it takes about 6 hours to travel there by car. The fastest route is to drive out of the city on the BR 116 north as if driving to Rio city.  Not far after Volta Redonda turn onto the RJ-149 Highway to Mangaratiba until you reach the BR 101 then head south to Conceição de Jacareí. The highway cuts through town and you will find the beach and the tourist pier down some streets off the highway to your left.

By Bus

There are no direct buses to Conceição de Jacareí from Sao Paulo.  There is a company called Reunidas Paulista which has daily departures from the Tiete bus terminal to Angra dos Reis, a town located 40 minutes south of Conceição de Jacareí.  There are also boats from Angra dos Reis to Vila do Abraão, as well as boats from Angra dos Reis to Araçatiba & Praia Vermelha on Ilha Grande.

How to get from Paraty to Conceição de Jacareí

Paraty is a popular colonial town about 2 hours south of Conceição de Jacareí, and many tourists visit Ilha Grande from there.

By Car

If you are driving, you simply travel north 135 km up the BR 101 in the direction of Rio de Janeiro and once you get to Conceição de Jacareí, you can find the tourism pier just 300 meters from the highway to your right.

By Transfer

There are regular departures per day from Paraty to Ilha Grande via Conceição de Jacareí.  You can be picked up from your Paraty accommodation and you will drive 2 hours north and be dropped off near the Tourism Pier where you will be given a ticket for the boat to Abraao on Ilha Grande.

You will find our staff at the tourist pier of Conceição de Jacareí, where they will be easy to spot with their t-shirt ́s with Travessia Ilha Grande written on them. The pier is located only 350 meters away from the BR101 highway, and there are several private parking lots in Conceição de Jacareí, with options for parking as close as 15 meters away from the tourist pier.

Upon arrival, you go directly to the pier where our staff will be waiting to sell you a ticket for the ferry boat crossing to Abraão on Ilha Grande.  If you have already bought your ticket, then check in with the staff, who will let you know the procedure for boarding our Flex boats when it is time to depart.
